105 coaches at institutions in Douglas County earned $135,659 on average in 2022

Douglas County’s 105 coaches earned an average salary of $135,659 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the second highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Kansas post-secondary schools during 2022.

Douglas County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Kansas stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $827,304.

Male coaches of men's teams received $502,307 on average in Douglas County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $100,035.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
